Tumbler Ridge shooting leaves one dead in park incident
At noon on June 28 a shooting at Angus Camp in Tumbler Ridge wounded Robert Wall of Langley B C fatally. Albert Lavoie of Chetwynd 48 is charged with first degree murder. Lavoie was flown to Dawson Creek then Vancouver for treatment. Authorities note park work and playground upgrades planned alongside ongoing ground work.

First annual Bluegrass festival staged at Bend River Ranch
The first annual Bluegrass Country Music Festival drew about 2000 attendees over the July weekend at Bend River Ranch. Organized by the Roller family, the event featured 11th Hour Bluegrass and other groups despite rain, with local Lions clubs running breakfasts and concessions. Plans for next year were announced.

Fire at Klondike Court Apartments On 43rd Street
Early Tuesday morning a fire broke out in the electrical room of Klondike Court Apartments on 43rd Street. Lee Powell spotted smoke and alerted neighbors while phones failed due to damaged lines. Neighbors and Bill McLeod attempted to douse the blaze with lawn hoses until firefighters arrived and extinguished the flames, sparing the McLeod apartment.

Water Improvements Contract Awarded for Chetwynd
Argo Industries, a division of Wills Enterprises, won a 274374 dollar contract for water improvements in the District of Chetwynd.
