First Bluegrass Festival in Peace River Area

Hospitals face mass layoffs of part time staff

New overnight camping grounds near Don Titus area

1983 Budget Silent on Bridge Replacement
Alderman W Dunn, head of the District streets and road committee, says the 1983 budget has no funds for a new bridge on the road past the Post Office. Tourism group elects new officers at AGM in Alaska region
The Peace River Alaska Highway Tourist Association held its Annual General Meeting at Moberly Lake on Saturday June 11 1983. Bob Johnson was re elected President for a second year. Officers named include Glen Campbell 1st Vice President Norma Cox 2nd Vice President Peter Diemert 3rd Vice President and Bunne Hoffman as immediate Past President. New board members and representatives from chambers of commerce were chosen from Dawson Creek Chetwynd Hudson Hope Fort St John Fort Nelson and MacKenzie. The group approved proxy voting, hosted talks by Ministry of Tourism and Expo 86, and awarded Gold Good Show Pins to local hospitality champions. A $2000 cash lottery winner and a three day wilderness adventure prize were announced.
