Chamber of Commerce presses reform on BC budget battle
The British Columbia Chamber of Commerce continues pressure on the 1993 provincial budget. President Dean Cooper cites ongoing dialogue with the government and hints at further action if unsatisfactory. A Kelowna group seized attention by delivering 1.8 million dollars PST to Victoria in a suitcase to press tax cuts and reduced government costs. Public polls in Fort St. John show strong recall support for Premier Harcourt, with 55,060 signatures already collected and a goal of 100,000. The recall effort is led by Chambers Olson of Vancouver and is separate from BC Chamber protests.
