Health Professions Act amendments seek broader public protection
Health Minister Elizabeth Cull announced amendments to the Health Professions Act to strengthen regulation of health professions in British Columbia. The bill requires at least one third public members on college boards and adds a duty to serve the public interest with standards, ethics, continuing competency, patient rights, and public access to records. The Health Professions Council will expand to review scopes of practice and may convene panels with authority similar to the council.
