$47 Million Planned for Peace Region Roads

South Peace MLA Blair Lekstrom says $47 million will fund road work in the Peace Region under the Heartlands Strategy. Projects include Bennett to Link Creek design, Cairns Creek safety curve, and extensive side road graveling. Tumbler Ridge Boundary Road work is a major travel project with others in Chetwynd Dawson Creek and Taylor. Tenders are being sent out as work begins.

Chetwynd Considers Motocross Track At Council Meeting

At the June 17 council session Bruce Scott of the Chetwynd Motor Club urged Mayor and Council to donate 10 to 15 acres for a track. He said the track could host two races annually and perhaps snow cross events, attracting 300 to 600 riders and boosting local economy while reducing street riding. Concerns about liability were addressed, track would be member only and monitored, and it must be distant from housing. A final vote depends on finding a suitable area.
