Critters and Beasts of Moberly Lake Nesting birds hit by rains and rising lake
Heavy rains at Moberly Lake washed away ground nests and flooded loons and grebes. Swans circled anxiously while only one swallow pair attempted nesting and a fledgling died. Wildflowers appear after the rain as dawn songs fade and wrens build new nests. Loons, some tame, drift through memories of a mate lost to nets and the mystique of the loon’s call.
