Congratulations to Karen Schreiber who won the All Round Trophy in the 10 and under age group at the Hudson Hope Rodeo. She also won a saddle and two belt buckles. Other winners include Rolene Best, Darren Ethier, Holly Ethier, and Tim Ethier. Mary and Vern Hougen moved to Claresholm to buy the Golden Pheasant Motel. Annual Brownie Guide Banquet at Legion Hall
Parents, Brownies, and Guides gathered at the Legion Hall for the annual Daughter and Parents Banquet. The color party presented flags, with area commissioner Mrs. W. Stogryn saluting, district commissioner Mrs. R. Larsen and Guide Lieutenant Mrs. R. Cunningham in attendance. Mrs. R. E. Hoffman gave the grade, and Guide Mary Anne McAvany gave the toast to the Queen. Head table guests included Mayor and Mrs. Lasser and several local officials.

Ecumenical service and picnic set for June 18 in Chetwynd
An outdoor ecumenical service followed by a potluck picnic will be held June 18 at 4 00 p m in Legion Park. Sponsored by Anglican Free Evangelical Lutheran Pentecostal Presbyterian United Roman Catholic and Seventh Day Adventist Churches of Chetwynd. Public invited to attend and join the picnic fellowship after. The second annual service features Pastor Rod Mac Farlane of the Lutheran Church as preacher with Jim Kitson Zion Church student minister encouraged to attend and join in the interchurch gathering before summer.

The Chetwynd Annual Rodeo opened with a two day event and Saturday parade through the Village ending at the Library where trophy awards were given. Lions Club sponsors listed winners across categories such as Commercial, Organization, Comedy, Bicycle and Best Rider. Pictures of the floats will be published next week.

Chamber adopts new constitution at regular meeting
The Chamber of Commerce approved a new constitution at last Tuesday's session in the Chetwynd Hotel. The Tourist Booth opens this week 9 am to 5 pm daily while July sees students take over staff of three as government funding becomes available. Plans for Main Street are sent to a designer for approval once project prices are known. Guest speaker Mr. Wm Anderson, P.R.L.R.D. Commissioner for Economic Development, outlined the commission's purpose and regional role with offices in each community. He discussed growth prospects, steps taken to date, and a Victoria trip that included talks with corporate officials, industry crowns, and government ministers.
