Races Move to Tumbler Ridge Route in 1989
Organizers led by Art Napoleon and others moved the Racecourse in 1989 to the Tumbler Highway past Dicksbush Bridge to avoid the railroad crossing and spare runners knees from a long uphill climb and steep decline. The four 5 km stages offer rolling hills, fast flats, a tough long hill, and a final slow finish. In 1991 Rec Centre staff organized the event to sustain it until volunteers could resume control.
