Regional district seeks 4.5 million for hospitals vote
Peace River Liard Regional District plans a year end referendum to raise 4.5 million for hospitals in the district. The district needs 825,000 to buy equity in St. Josephs General Hospital Smunson Creek and Providence Hospital Fort St John from the Sisters of Charity of Providence. The two hospitals originated by the nursing order to aid the community.

Peace Country Regional District is asking Municipal Affairs to start the Highways Scenic Act district wide. Multiple Transport Act fines in Chetwynd area court
In the past week four minor charges under the Dept of Commercial Transport Act surfaced in Chetwynd involving overloads at Marine Pipeline and Wiley Oilfield Hauling. fines ranged from 10 to 35 dollars. Additional penalties were issued for failing to stop at weigh scales and carrying license or vehicle equipment violations. A separate single vehicle accident near Chetwynd caused about 700 dollars in damage. no injuries reported. Regional district plans hospital expansions totaling over 4.5 million dollars, with a December referendum anticipated to fund Fort Nelson General Hospital, St Joseph’s and Providence facilities, and a paved road to the hospital.
