California visitors camp at Chetwynd airport en route to Alaska
A seven person California group from Sonoma County flew into Chetwynd on a 21 day Alaska trip. They camped on the runway overnight due to weather delays, planned stops at Fort St. John and Fort Nelson, and numbered between Piper Cub and Aeronca Champ planes built 1946 to 1948. They averaged about 400 miles daily, fueling every 150 miles, and sent copies of the paper to the Chetwynd Echo.
