Coal mine west of Chetwynd plans open pit development in 1996
Global tec aims to build an open pit thermal coal mine 40 kilometres west of Chetwynd near Willow Flats Crassiar Creek with trial shipment by late summer or early fall and 60 to 100 workers housed in Chetwynd during construction. Once finished the site should provide 50 to 70 permanent jobs and about 500 thousand tons of coal yearly for roughly 16 years.
