Three hundred twenty to three hundred twenty five visitors stopped at the information centre this week. They arrived by cars foot motor homes motorcycles caravans and campers. Interest centered on fishing and camping along with related local spots.

The Chetwynd Public Library Association received LIP funding this year to prepare a historical record of the village through 1960.
Peggy Conway of Vancouver toured Peace River Country in Chetwynd meeting Mrs Barbara Topnik and a McKenzie Nursery School delegation. Discussions on centre and nursery school administration benefited both groups as the center plans a July 3 reopening ahead of a September 6 official opening.
Counsellors and visitors at the Crown Subdivision information booth discuss leasing to ownership under a freehold option. Associate Deputy Minister George Chatterton announces that land can be bought via lease with freehold conversion on payment of assessed value, with lots priced from 5900 to 6700 dollars, including paved streets and underground services. Central Mortgage and Housing Corporation can advise on mortgages in Prince George. Several homes are ready for occupancy and sales talks will travel to Chetwynd. qualifying occupancy uses adjusted wage plus per dependent figures.
Agriculture Minister David Stupidh announced a July 1 milk price increase under the BC Milk Board formula. Prices rise one cent per quart in Vancouver Island and two cents in the interior, driven by higher farm operator wages and input costs.
June carloadings totalled 11 780, up nine percent from 10 703 a year earlier. First six months reached 69 119 versus 64 401 last year. Exports and commodities like grain copper ores lumber wood products and fuels rose, while veneer logs posts milled timber and some interline shipments declined.
