Environment Minister tours Bennett Dam over sinkhole and spillway flow
BC Environment Minister Paul Ramsey visited the W A C Bennett Dam to review the sinkhole and high water discharge, meeting BC Hydro staff and Hudson's Hope officials. He spoke with Mayor Lenore Harwood and council and then stopped at the Provincial Field Response Centre in Fort St John to assess responses.

Chetwynd Audited As Debt Drops And Cash Backed Reserves
At the June 25 council meeting the B.A. Sander audit of 1995 books highlighted Chetwynd’s finances. Assets rose from 22.9 million in 1994 to 24.1 million in 1995 while debt fell from four million to 3.8 million. The auditor praised the debt to equity ratio and noted cash backing for reserves. Councillors stressed the need to maintain cash for contingencies and future funding changes. Mayor Barb Shirley urged successors to leave the municipality in good financial shape.
