Kalischuk resigns from District of Chetwynd council
Councillor George Kalischuk announced his resignation effective at the end of January during the January 16 council meeting. He attended 12 of 22 meetings in 1995, citing personal commitments, and urged the council to firm up its resolve on issues including a park, air quality, and sulphur emissions from Westcoast Energy's Pine River gas plant. He noted respect for colleagues and said he may leave by byelect timing if needed. Mayor Barb Shirley praised him as values-driven and said he will be missed.
