Telus workers raise lines four feet at the Hwy 97 and Nicholson Road intersection in Chetwynd after two blackouts and a near miss. Officials say the extra clearance will accommodate frequent truck traffic and reduce future incidents.
Blue Fuel outlines a two to two and a half year construction plan for a renewable hydrogen and gas derived liquids plant near Chetwynd. The company faces sourcing natural gas, securing labour, and building parts off site. MOU talks with West Moberly First Nation and other Treaty 8 groups, plus environmental permitting, are underway. Initial production projected for late 2018.
RCMP continue to search for Daniel Koening who disappeared in July after being believed to have Alzheimer’s. He was last seen on a forest service road near the Del Rio area northeast of Chetwynd and appeared to have abandoned his vehicle after running out of gas. Investigators link the case to an armed robbery at People’s Drug Mart on February.
