Council approves over eight thousand for staff training
The Cost of education panel approved more than $8,000 for staff training at the Tuesday regular council meeting. Administr ator Don Howden will attend a '90s team building seminar in Banff in April. Two staff members Jannene Disher and Ron Poole will attend the Municipal Administration Training Institute program in Victoria later this year at a cost of $4,314 for two. Grants will offset these costs. Civic Properties budget covers Poole. Fire chief Leo Sabulsky seeks two firefighters and the training officer for courses in Castlegar in June and three 1995 courses to boost safety and management, with costs not yet presented. Foothills NOW director Chuck Lenfesty will attend a Richmond workshop on housing and local government for $1,231.74. A separate two-person Microsoft module workshop at Northern Lights College ($945.12) was tabled. Mayor Barb Shirley may attend a UBC course to offset air fare for another attendee.
