Right steps when car goes wrong and how to seek redress
If a car repair goes wrong do not confront the garage or stop payment. Be courteous, gather work orders, and speak with the service manager to uncover what was done. If unresolved, contact the garage general manager, then the factory representative for new cars, and finally the provincial consumer department or small claims court. The BCAA can arbitrate disputes for members with approved garages.
