Wheeler tops multiple rinks in the January 31 to February 2, 1975 Bonspiel with 28 local teams participating. Winners include Nelson Wheeler and Billy Robertson in A and Vickey Clary and Dave Knowles in B. A hot roast beef dinner followed by four and a half hours of dancing with One Night Stand. Two members Mary McDougal and Bernie Grovius are relocating to Beaver Cove and Prince George.

Railway carloadings fall in January during strike
Loadings are down as a 46 day strike extended into early February. British Columbia Railway reported January carloadings of 8 857 versus 10 355 in the same month last year. Grain products lumber eastern rail pulpwood and export wood pulp moved more volume, while copper ores concentrates logs wood chips machinery and piggyback traffic declined.

Chetwynd considers water predesign and college plan funding
Chetwynd Village Council discussed a 500000 first stage water predesign for 3000 to 6000 residents, with Strong Lamb and Nelson Coast Engineers presenting. Plans include extending the Chetwynd Coalition area for recreation tax to fund the arena and a regional college concept with a Feb 22 public meeting in Chetwynd. Council also approved a 12 percent mayor and alderman salary rise.

Adult education registration draws about seventy five locals
About seventy five Chetwynd residents attended the Adult Education Registration night on February 5 to sign up for courses from Yoga to Early Childhood Education. Some classes start tonight and tomorrow at Chetwynd Elementary Secondary School with specifics including Day Care Supervisor training beginning February 18 in Room 15. Additional fall sessions planned for continued interest.

Tom and Dorothy Cleaver launch Chet Supply & Repairs in Chetwynd behind Norm's Confectionery. The new shop handles plumbing heating electrical appliances and parts. The Cleavers moved from Williams Lake BC last March. Tom previously served as a maintenance superintendent at Canfor. They have two children Rod 15 and Michelle 14.

Plebiscites relaxed for colleges in British Columbia
