Library Trustees Get New Members At AGM

The Annual General Meeting on Jan 31 elected new library trustees Connie LeBlanc Joan Taylor and Eleanor Wilfur. Two members resigned thanking Linda Johnson and Jackie Fowler for their service. The Kidz Konnection program expands to twice weekly sessions for ages K 3 to 7 with a waiting list for the first group. The library notes tax season and highlights new 2001 investment and car guides plus repair manuals and travel books available free to readers.

Tumbler Ridge gas bill hike sparks resident anger

Tumbler Ridge residents expressed frustration over a February gas bill that attributes much of the rise to the Quintette coal mine closure. PNG cites high gas prices and lower Quintette revenue as reasons for interim rate increases starting January 2001, with possible refunds when permanent rates are set.
