Chetwynd Students Win U of A Scholarships

Two Chetwynd Secondary School students Lara Clark and Linda May Christie each received Cdn 1000 scholarships from the University of Alberta after maintaining 85 to 89 percent averages. The university received over 3000 applications and awarded about 2500 scholarships totaling over 14 million. Lara pursues medicine while Linda May aims for a BA in science and agriculture toward veterinary work.

Province designates 56 new parks and protected areas

The government protects over 462000 hectares under land use plans expanding BC parks. Ian Waddell announced January 26 2001 detailing 18 Class A parks 3 park additions 34 protected areas and one addition under the Environment and Land Use Act. Bearhole Lake and Kin-se-za areas are highlighted with cultural significance for First Nations.

Bonnie and Clyde's Pizza Parlor Food Drive Draw
