New doctors settle in Chetwynd area
Dr John Lennox says within a year five staff doctors could serve Chetwynd and Hudson Hope, with Dr Pickering practicing in Hudson Hope and Dr Craven arriving from Scotland on January 9. Dr Craven, his family, will live in Chetwynd. A spring arrival of another doctor is possible. A dentist is expected to arrive within one or two weeks under government grant to establish practice locally.

Valerie Lennox reports the Don Titus School presented a Christmas Concert on December 21 at the Elks Hall. Students formed a choir with others enacting song lyrics while Mrs Stubberfield played piano. Repertoire included O Canada Away in a Manger Silent Night Frosty the Snowman andDeck the Halls. Theresa Negu gave a thanks speech as the audience filled the hall.

Chetwynd Gymkhana Club elects Clary president again
Lawrence Clary is re elected president at the general meeting on December 13 with Ray Schreiber Vi Smith Frankie Schreiber and nine Directors named to the executive. The club also sets new age groupings Pee to 10 11 to 18 14 to 16 and 17 plus and schedules a hoof care seminar for January 14 at 7 pm in the high school library followed by horse demonstrations at the Westcoast Transmission shop. Next meeting is January 10 at 7 30 pm in the Evergreen Room.

Cookbooks Onlne and Local Sales Highlight Auxiliary Efforts
The Chetwynd Hospital Auxiliary finished cookbooks and asked buyers to collect at Mrs Brewsters. Books are also on sale at village confectioneries and stores. Lead roles in a school reading included Wale Knott, Bobby Allison, Annette Blue, Kelly Willard, Pearl Noskiye, and Louise Courtoreille with Miss Lyon’s division four presenting The Little Christmas Tree starring Patsy Currier and Mona Currier as Santa Claus.
