Police prepare charges after hotel fracas damages
Police say charges will be laid after a Saturday hotel fracas damaged a cash register and scattered books and magazines, costing about 250. Village police report multiple break ins at the Library and Legion Hall last week with an alleged theft of around 10 from the library and soft drinks taken from the Legion. The high school was targeted in an earlier attempt. Investigations continue.

Choir Opens Christmas Concert With Winter Wonderland
Valerie Lennox reports on a Christ mas program at Chetwynd School where the choir sang three more tunes after a tuneful Winter Wonderland. Felix Couturier Bud Napoleon and Eugene Chelifouo formed The Crucifixion rock group followed by an amusing play The Bad Children directed by Mr Lennox with grade eight cast. The program ended with a baton demonstration by Christine Hoffman and a school fashion show featuring many students led by Mrs McNab.

Library imposes non resident fee at Chetwynd Public Library
The Chetwynd Public Library begins charging a yearly non resident fee of one dollar per family for those living outside the village. Village residents remain unaffected. The policy, effective January 3 1972, stems from an agreement with the Library Development Commission to support library services used by rural residents.

Our Lady of Peace mass features carols in French Latin German Cree and English sung by Father Jungbluth who credits Chetwynd’s multilingual community. He notes possible Portuguese or Italian carols if volunteers sing. He may also sing in Beaver but prefers Motherly Lake services.
