Chetwynd Police report extremely poor driving conditions caused five crashes last week. December 9 a Vancouver driver John Herbert rolled a car north of Moberly Lake, two passengers hospitalized. December 11 a three vehicle pile up on East Pine Hill followed a rear collision sequence ending with charges for following too closely and total damages around 650 dollars. December 9 near East Pine Hill Helga Rohde’s car was rear ended by Peter Anderson who was cited for following too closely, damages about 800 dollars.

Fort St John rancher Lee L Dahl announced a vast project spanning 200000 acres along the Peace Kisakatinaw and East Pine Rivers from Fort St John toward Chetwynd. The Hoof and Herd operation would begin March 1972 with 10000 cattle for spring and fall deliveries, financed at over 20 million dollars, featuring self-sustaining feed, year round shipments, and cross breeding of Swiss Semintal and French Charolais strains.

PGE Carloadings Climb in November and Year Totals
PGE reports November carloadings at 10 143, up from 9 064 a year earlier. For the first 11 months, total carloadings reached 110 928, up 12.9 percent from 98 230 in the prior year. Gains were seen in lumber, wood chips, petroleum products, pulp, piggyback, LCL, and interline traffic.
