Chetwynd RCMP report multiple incidents on December 1995

Police log records a fatal December 12 crash on highway 97 near East Pine bridge involving a California driver Jo seph Mahoney and an empty logging trailer. A December 15-16 liquor store break in used moose parts. file 95-3590. A December 17 pedestrian hit on highway 29N at mile 16. 19 year old male treated and released. RCMP contact numbers provided.

Police prepare for impaired drivers Christmas road checks

Police in Chetwynd join the province wide Drinking Driving Counterattack campaign running December 8 to January 3. Sgt Lyle Burt says detachment officers will run sporadic checks day and night. He notes more drivers are choosing designated drivers as awareness grows. In 1994 alcohol related crashes accounted for 30 percent of deadly accidents with 3,331 such incidents.

Hudson's Hope wrestles with solid waste plan costs

Hudson's Hope councillors say they have many questions about the regional solid waste management plan especially its costs. They worry about study bills dump closures transfer-site costs and added bureaucracy while noting recycling and scavenging may be affected.
