Chetwynd Extends Wood Yard Burning Permit
The District of Chetwynd endorsed Peace Valley Woods request to extend trench burning in the B C Rail yards north of Chetwynd to July 1 1996. The operation processes 800 to 1100 cubic meters of wood daily with 5 to 15 percent unusable for pulp leading to more smoke than expected and ash on nearby residences cars decks and lawns. A December 18 public meeting via a respiratory health committee allowed all sides to present positions before the vote.
