Bylaw dispute over doctors 65 age rule at hospital

A closed meeting of the Hospital Board upheld a 65 and older bylaw that blocks admitting privileges for doctors past 65. Dr Geoffrey Harding of Mountainview Medical Clinic challenged the rule, which affects his practice in Chetwynd. The bylaw, created in 1991, would deny him admitting privileges though he can send patients for X rays and labs. If applied regionally, several specialists would be ineligible. Fort Saint John and Dawson Creek hospitals do not have such a bylaw. Continued on page 23.
