Industrial Park Roadwork Among Planned Upgrades
Crissfield outlined a long term plan to repair the town’s streets over twenty years beginning with the worst sections. He noted 40th Street has degraded over 15 years and highlighted geosynthetic standards. The program aims to rework all streets, including the Industrial Park frontage roads and hillside roads, with current assets valued at $10.3 million and a revised estimate of $7.3 million. A runway section at Chetwynd and District Airport is also slated for replacement.

Chetwynd district debates school catchment plan
SD 59 Assistant Superintendent Rob Dennis discussed Chetwynd catchment areas at a December meeting. Proposed totals show Windrem Elementary at 239, Little Prairie at 170, and Don Titus at 106, but Windrem’s 200 capacity makes 239 untenable. The plan would take seven years to reflect changes, and families with siblings may avoid splitting across schools. Dennis urged adopting the proposal and monitoring its impact while noting exceptions for special programs.
