Inland gets relief as BC Energy Commission confirms interim gas rate increases

After hearings, the British Columbia Energy Commission confirms interim rate hikes for Inland customers effective Sept 1 1978 with residential and commercial gas up 4 cents per MCF and industrial up 3 cents per MCF. Additional interim relief raises residential 12 cents, commercial 11 cents, and firm industrial 8 cents per MCF. A new overhead cost accounting method, approved earlier, will generate more internal funds. Final decision will address earned return. Inland president Kadlee says the extra relief adds about 1.25 per month for a typical 125 MCF yearly user, bringing annual gas costs to about 283.75, versus higher electricity or oil costs from BC Hydro. He notes interim relief aids earnings despite not meeting all sought relief.
