West Coast Energy Pine River Plant shutdown over weekend
West Coast Energy shut its Pine River Gas Plant over the August weekend due to a malfunction in a new Honeywell control system. Eight workers were hospitalized as hydrogen sulphide and sulphur dioxide leaks occurred after a valve failed to remain open in both the gas and sulphur plants. Officials reported minute gas releases with no measurable environmental impact and planned to resume operations by August 25.
