A local resident raises concerns over daycare shortages in Chetwynd. An Echo survey finds just three registered spaces. one operator, Care A Lot, offers seven spaces with only one infant spot. Other providers report relocations or limited capacity. Northern Lights College plans a government funded 25 space centre. Parents face anxiety returning to work as licensed daycare remains scarce.
Canadians will be asked to change dialing next month as British Columbia callers must include the 604 area code for long distance within the province. Exceptions apply to 800 and 900 numbers. The change aims to free numbers as demand for phones and devices grows, opening up about 40 new area codes and up to eight million numbers per code.
