Fossil Hunters Probe Peace River District For Ancient Remains

Dr. Phillip Currie of Glenbow Museum leads a Calgary team on horseback into Wapiti Lake in search of fossils amid reports of a prehistoric shark remains. The group has permits from Victoria authorities and has previously helped rescue dinosaur footprints near Peace Canyon before Bennett Dam.

Prince George forest region cuts 61 auxiliary jobs in latest layoff

Ministry of Forests Prince George region announced 61 auxiliary layoffs to be phased over two months. Thirty four affected in Prince George and 27 in district offices. This rounds out previous cuts totaling 102 in July, with 416 permanent positions in region and 36 vacancies.

Table Mountain Tunnel Opens Northeast Coalfields Link

The nine kilometre Table Tunnel linking the Northeast Coalfields to Ridley Island coal port opened on August 21 1983 with B C Rail officials provincial ministers Japanese officials and media in attendance. Don Phillips Mac Norris and Nemoto rode the locomotive to the hole through point as the project tied the coal region to the Pacific Rim. Nemoto honored for his historical role. Nemoto station named between Ridley Island and Prince Rupert.

Sukunka Rail Tunnels Chief Engineer Bob Hendry Leads BC Project

Bob Hendry serves as Chief Engineer for the Sukunka Valley BC Railway Tunnels under construction to bore a 15 kilometer route for coal transport from Northeast Coal Development to Prince Rupert.
