Artifacts hunt for Paleo Indians in Peace Region
Archaeologist Dr. Arthur Roberts of Simon Fraser University seeks private artifact collections from the Peace River Fort Nelson area for a feasibility study on a major Paleo Indian project. The team focuses on 13 000 to 10 000 years ago and the glacial Lake Peace shoreline to locate sites and understand early hunter tool making and migration.

The Chetwynd airstrip nears night operations within a month as landing beacons are installed on surrounding high points. Inspectors from the Federal Aviation Department ratified a contract governing airstrip standards. The project has seen $7 million invested to date, with $355,000 for beacons and runway lights and federal and provincial funding totaling $325,000.
