New Zealand and German winners in ultra marathon race
New Zealand runner Grant Guise won the men’s solo division with a 13:27:37 finish time and Julia Boettger of Germany led the women with a 16:13:04 finish. Both were among out of town competitors in near perfect, sunny conditions reaching 25 degrees. Family support at every checkpoint energized participants, including Bette and her partner who trained 150-160 km weekly and endured long days of back-to-back runs.
