Footprint clues: bird-like theropod fossil on stone slab
A 1400 pound rock hosts a 95 million year old bird-like theropod fossil. Three sharp claw marks mark the front of the prints with a heel 9 cm behind the claws. Footprints, described by student Mcrea under paleontologist Phil Currie, show three forward toes in a V. An inner toe points backward and the heel rises, with curved claws typical of theropods.

Forest protection ruling upholds aboriginal consultation duty
Justice Dorgan’s decision stands that aboriginal groups must be consulted in forestry matters. Canfor, though intervener, sees the process as upheld and expects no Supreme Court appeal. Halfway and Canfor note ongoing good relations amid the CP212 case and permit holder status. No logging planned in the area for the foreseeable future.
