Halfway River First Nations win forest protection case

The B C Court of Appeals ruled in favor of Halfway River First Nations after a seven year dispute with the NDP government to safeguard a 340 hectare old growth forest from clear cutting. Fossil Footprint Slab Lifted From East Pine River

A 1400 pound rock slab with 25 million year old heron like footprints was airlifted from East Pine River. Geologist Richard Morea and paleontologists secured funds after five years to remove the fossil. The 23 centimeter long footprints show a broad 60 centimeter pace, indicating a large stride.
