Oil spill in Pine River from 12 inch pipeline rupture
Crude oil leaked into the Pine River after a pipeline rupture about 60 kilometres southwest of Chetwynd. Pembina Petroleum, aided by the ministry of environment and the Oil and Gas Commission, mobilized containment booms and response crews after the 1:20 a.m. rupture, with an estimated 1000 cubic metres or 6200 barrels released and water restrictions imposed as pumping of river water was replaced by trucking in water from the Sukunka River.
