West Fraser relinquishes cutting rights in Kitlope area award
West Fraser Timber announces it will relinquish harvesting rights to timber in the Kitlope region, a move worth about 12 million dollars based on a 57 000 cubic metre annual cut. The area, praised as the world’s largest remaining coastal temperate rainforest, drew praise from former Chetwynd councillor George Kalischuk and supporters who urge broader protection and community forest conversion.
