District asks for public input on underground mine Gething Project
The District of Chetwynd asks residents to submit concerns to the Ministry of Mines about the CX-9-33 Mines Act amendment for Canadian Kailuah Dehua International Mines Group. Review aims to conclude by May 27, with a 45 day period. The project near Moberly Lake involves two underground declines for a 100,000 tonne coal bulk sample and surface facilities including a coal stockpile and waste rock disposal. If no reply, a decision will be made from available information. Council donates 3000 to the Chetwynd Fire Fighter's Association for the Northeast BC Hose Lay Competition June 10-12, with participants from multiple local departments. The council also plans attendance at upcoming regional meetings and workshops in May.
