At the Lion's Den forum Social Credit candidate Don Phillips outlined the North East Coal Development plans including 2,000 full time jobs at two major mines and warned BC would lose money if raw materials are sold abroad. NDP candidate Patrick Michiel criticized BC debt of 15 billion and argued for careful funding of health and education while supporting some megaproject employment for British Columbians.

Opposition to new golf course in Chetwynd discussed at council
At the District council meeting on April 19, representatives from the Moberly Lake District Golf Course voiced opposition to a proposed Chetwynd course. Child Found Drowned In Moberly River
Diane Louise Slater a three year old daughter of Susan Slater was found drowned in the Moberly River on April 19 after disappearing from home the previous day. An all night search by friends relatives RCMP tracking dogs and local PE P members located the body at 1 00 pm.

Lions Birthday Calendar drives community support fundraiser
The Lions sell their 6th Annual Birthday Calendar to fund the Community Building Fund. For five dollars, families can list birthdays and anniversaries and receive a calendar with town club times, local emergency numbers, and community links.
