Mayors Report on 6 Million Fair Share Increase

Chetwynd Mayor Evan Saugstad reports that on April 5 2004 BC allocated a one time 6 million dollar increase to the Peace River Regional District Fair Share Agreement. The aim is a new permanent agreement tied to rural industrial tax base with revenue adjustments and regional policing talks. About 300 000 goes to Chetwynd this year with decisions pending on use. A taxi saver pilot may run through 2004 and funds may support water treatment filters street repairs reserves or Mt Baldy trail.
