Girl Guides and Brownies sell world famous cookies April 26 at 10:00 a.m. in Chetwynd with a second sale on May 3 at 10:00 a.m. Christie Brown & Co. Ltd. produces the cookies and funds aid Guide Company and Brownie pack supplies. Purchase a box when the Guides knock on doors.
The Ski Club announces an auction on Saturday April 26 in a vacant lot beside the Dry Cleaners. A lively bidder chorus asks for thirty dollars as the event kicks off. Proceeds support club activities.
After a no snow season the Chetwynd Ski Club launches a spring auction, gathering attic finds and donated items from locals to fund winter fun for youths. Donors include Chetwynd Motors, Texaco West End, and several residents, with pickups offered and a sale set for Saturday at 2 p.m. near the Dry Cleaner's.
Hudson Hope Provincial Court sat with Judge R McQueen. Raymond Allan Phelps, 17, pleaded guilty to theft and was remanded to May 7 for sentencing. Sherman W Cota, 29, pleaded guilty to two counts of driving while suspended and was remanded to May 7 for sentencing. Clifford R Belcourt, 25, of Chetwynd pleaded guilty to impaired driving and no licence, fined 300 and licence suspended two years. Gordon R Baller, 18, Hudson Hope, fined 50 and licence suspended 60 days for hit and run. Wade Tucker, 21, Hudson Hope, fined 50 and licence suspended 60 days for hit and. Gordon R Baller pleaded guilty to possession of stolen property and remanded to May 7 for sentencing. Victor Gouldie, 29, stayed on traffic in narcotics charge. William Robert McLean, 35, Fort St John remanded to June 4 for preliminary hearing on possession of weapon. School District 59 appoints Denny Kemprud as Supervisory Principal for Chetwynd Area Elementary Schools. no vice principal named yet for high school.
Rules committee announced a new pole bending amendment setting poles 21 feet apart with a 20 foot start line. Apr 26 play day, senior novice group formed if interest. Ninteen members from off lodge No 308 attended the 40th Annual District Meet for Districts 11 and 15 in Dawson Creek on April 12, 1975. Morning sessions featured registration opening ceremonies and committee appointments led by District Deputy Averill. afternoon sessions were chaired by District Deputy Mary Haggart. Readouts showed Lodges contributing to their communities and events included history reports, curling wins, traveling gavels, and interdistrict trophy results. A banquet, dancing, and a pancake breakfast followed, with Grande Prairie Elks Patrol impressing at the dancing hour and members returning inspired to renew their obligations.
Members of Legion and Ladies Auxiliary attended zone meetings and seminars across Dawson Creek Fort St. John Taylor and Fort Nelson with Bessy McKnight Hines and Knowles among delegates. Upcoming events include a June zone meeting a Peace Island Park picnic and a Kelowna convention trip with April 26 catering for the Lions Convention.
A committee of Hudson Hope officials and BC Hydro executives is reviewing local concerns from the 410 million Site One hydroelectric development on the Peace River. The group aims to minimize population influx effects, plan facilities, and advise council and Hydro as construction peaks in 1977 to 1980.
