Westlander Tom Thumbs win Dawson Equipment Trophy
In a weekend tourney held April 5 and 6 in Dawson Creek two local minor hockey teams competed. The Westlander Tom Thumbs played four games finishing one win two losses and one draw tying Dawson Creek Blackhawks on wins and clinching the trophy by goals scored. Each player received a small trophy.

Court actions in Chetwynd April 1975 case notes
In a two week span, several locals paid penalties for motor vehicle and transport acts. April 10 1975 in Family and Children's Court Judge David Lewis presided over six juveniles, four boys for mischief damage to signs around Chetwynd, two girls for Theft under 200, each girl fined 25. Others in Chetwynd Provincial Court faced break and entry theft from the government liquor store with suspended sentences and probation. One man John Paul Newton also fined 100 and restitution 1156.90.

Travel art show survey of Canadian art now here
Travel ling exhibit titled Survey of Canadian Art Now organized by The Vancouver Art Gallery Extension Department will be at Chetwynd Elementary Secondary School on April 25 from 7 30 to 9 30 p m. Admission is free. The show travels 1300 slides from the Fall 1974 collection surveying Canadian art of the last two years with works from Mary Pratt Newfoundland to the Pacific Rim Group West Coast. Alice Rich from the Gallery will discuss the slides and answer questions throughout the event.

First year highlights for Chetwynd Lions Club
The Chetwynd Lions celebrate their inaugural year as the town’s only service club. Highlights include a $90 donation to the RCMP Bicycle Rodeo, removal of old car bodies during Anti-Litter Week, a fish tank gift to the Day Care Center science display, $200 toward the 1974 Boy Scout Jamboree, and $50 for transporting the High School Rodeo winner to Wisconsin. The club also covered hospital TV rental, aided the Medical Clinic outing, funded Lions International Relief, and provided two pairs of eyeglasses for local children. Several projects remain underway.

Only One Trumpeter Swan Remains At Moberly Lake
A pair of Trumpeter Swans with three cygnets visited Moberly Lake last fall. One parent and two young left, leaving a single parent swan near the bridge. Locals and visitors fed the bird as it roamed, photographed by Rick Cox. Residents urged protection as the species grows rarer.

The General annual meeting of Chetwynd Little League Baseball was held on Tuesday April 8 with only two attendees. Without more support, the league’s future in Chetwynd is in doubt. Registration is set for April 17 and 21 in the Arena Lobby. Come on Chetwynd, support our youth.
