The Chetwynd Curling Club held its wrap-up banquet and awards ceremony Friday evening at the Recreation Centre. Local members and guests celebrated the season with presentations and recognition of outstanding performances.
The recreation newsletter outlines a walking workout held twice weekly from 9 to 9 45 am on Tuesdays and Thursdays with babysitting available. It previews pool programs via Hudsons Hope, a summer bussing plan for Chetwynd residents, July and possibly August lessons, and a mid May schedule reveal. A May 2 informational broomball meeting forms a league, preschool spots remain, logo ideas for the 1990 Northern BC Winter Games hosted by four communities are invited with a Friday deadline, and curling awards and notices conclude with thanks from the Chetwynd Curling Club and a list of 1987 88 executives. There is a note about Chevy Chase’s real estate timing during a stock market crash.
At the April 14 awards banquet in Chetwynd the Chicks Ringette team recognized players with Esso medals for Most Improved and Most Sportsmanlike, and MVP honors for Karl Buckley with Tanya Gentry receiving Honorable Mention. Team gifts went to coach Annette Wood, assistant Donna Thomson, and manager Shirly Gayse. The Sports Gas Trophy will be displayed at local schools through June.
Air Canada and the local newspaper invite readers to nominate selfless, community minded individuals who go beyond to improve their town. Submit nominations highlighting those who exemplify willingness, understanding, and service to their community.
