Municipalities seek 63.6 million in MFABC funds for local projects
The Municipal Finance Authority of British Columbia board approved 63.6 million in requests from 49 municipalities and 16 districts. Kelowna alderman Jim Stuart said trustees study markets and may delay issuing due to high interest rates, but total MFA funding since 1971 will top 660 million after this draw. Benefiting 28.3 million sewer, 21.1 million water, and other project allocations, with recipients including Kelowna, Vancouver, Prince George, Campbell River, and many more across the province.

Council approves hotel construction and rezoning final reading
At a regular council meeting on Tuesday April 1 1980 bylaw 252 received third reading for the hotel project on the Chetwynd Court Motel site. Tax relief for local taxpayers through education levy cap

Nurses reach agreement to avert BC hospital strike
Settlement reached March 26 between the Registered Nurses' Association of B C and Health Labour Relations Association of B C averts a nurses strike affecting 12 500 nurses in 113 hospitals across British Columbia. If ratified, a 27 month contract would raise salaries by an average 44 percent from January 1 1980 to March 31 1982 with about 5 percent in other benefits.
