Doctor shortage in Chetwynd may ease with May arrival
Interim CEO Meribel Miller says a South African doctor, Sergei Peregoudov, could arrive at the start of May with more locum coverage sought from the ministry and Medical Services Plan. The hospital shut its emergency ward last weekend due to no available locums while small communities statewide face staffing gaps. Miller notes Canada wide and BC wide shortages, but remains hopeful a stable physician base will be reestablished.
