Income tax changes and fiscal bills loom in Ottawa
Ottawa reports that six bills should be approved before the current session ends and five more by June 30, with Easter recess under way. Yvon Pinard warned the Commons may run past budget time as key measures including Canagrex, Canadas export aids, and a national sports pool await passage. A new session and throne speech are unlikely before May, possibly delaying until fall. The move follows royal assent to eight bills including income tax amendments enabling refunds, and a Senate bill ending wheat subsidies. The debate reflects limited cross-party cooperation amid a year‑long reform experiment.
