Regional District cuts budget and lowers rural taxes in 1995
Jack Hannam of the Peace River Regional District announces the 1995 budget of 20,287,576 with rural home taxes down about one percent. The district reduces expenses by nearly a million dollars while noting industry and pipelines pay about 95 percent of rural tax load. Area E funds most Chetwynd facilities including the Rec Centre, leisure pool, and library, with fire protection expansion and satellite TV transmitters updated up slightly. Overall, the regional budget drops by 858,000 and Hannam promotes the result as favorable among tax authorities.
