Loss of Early Childhood funding hits Chetwynd program
Chetwynd faces half funding for this year and no support beyond 2011 as the Early Childhood Development Provincial Partnership suspends core support for the Success By Six program. Jenifer Alexander notes the partnership of BC Ministry of Children and Family Development United Way and Credit Union Central of BC. The group has funded libraries, prenatal classes, family literacy and playground upgrades since 2005, affecting West Moberly Saulteau First Nations and Moccasin Flats Métis Society programs. The library and other services warn of cuts without sustainable funding as Sukunka Group seeks new sources.
