First Nations Artist Boosts Moberly Lake Presence at Southex Show
Kym Desjarlais of Moberly Lake, Shell-Lit’en Nation, showcased at the Sixteenth BC Creative Arts Show during Southex Vancouver Spring Gift Show at BC Place. Her home-based business joined 100 plus exhibitors subsidized by provincial and corporate sponsors, attracting 3,500 buyers nationwide and expanding her reach from Grandville Island to Halifax. Desjarlais, from Prince George originally, paints with a west coast contemporary style inspired by nature, with reproductions on hemp cotton tees and a Respecting Mother Earth poster series. Her husband Bryan and four children share her mountain-view home, drawing inspiration from the surrounding landscape.
