County Treasurer Postponed as Lewis County Board Deliberates
The Lewis County board of commissioners met in executive session to choose a successor to Treasurer Maynard. Candidates from Uegler, Spooner, Walt, and Huntley were considered with no agreement. Other actions included small fund adjustments and approving road and bridge expenditures as the panel adjourned to May 24.

Drowned Child in Newaukee River Burial Service Held
A two year old boy Frank Leushnan of Newaukum drowned in the Newaukee River on Saturday after wandering from his mother through a fence toward his father who was plowing on the opposite bank. Rev T E Eliott conducted the burial at Sumlay cemetery and addressed the large crowd at the interment.
